This work portrays the traditional mother figure in the Slavic culture I was raised within, which I depict as a monumental and almost sacred presence. Through this representation, I honor her multifaceted roles—caring for the home, raising children, and embodying both labor and dedication.
Viktoria Banovic is an oil painter and sculptor based in North Carolina, working with materials
such as steel, cast metal, and clay. Her artistic practice is rooted in exploring the human
experience, identity, and the figure, creating work that spans a variety of styles and media.
Viktoria recently graduated with a BFA in Sculpture and Ceramics, and her work reflects both a
deep technical skill and a continuous desire for personal and artistic growth.
Driven by an innate need to create, she approaches each piece with a commitment to pushing her
boundaries and challenging herself. Every project serves as an opportunity for learning and
improvement, making her artistic journey one of constant evolution. Whether through painting or
sculpture, Viktoria’s work invites viewers to connect with the raw emotions and complexities of
the human form and experience.
