About the event
Audrey Smith is a multi-genre pianist/guitarist, composer, and singer-songwriter from Hillsborough, North Carolina, living and working in New Orleans for the last decade. As a singer-songwriter, Audrey writes music from the heart, one molded within her rich cultural heritage of the North Carolina Piedmont. Behind the guitar, she presents songs and stories that grasp at the wise simplicity and humor of traditional country, folk, and bluegrass, with lyrics that nod to our shared experiences, joy, grief and the persistent in-betweens. Her sound dances between the lines of bluegrass and radio country, while being influenced heavily by North Carolinian icons Doc Watson, Etta Baker, and others. Her most recent performances include dates as a leader and side person at the New Orleans Jazz Museum, New Orleans Jazz National Historical Parks, the Baton Rouge Blues Festival, and the Marigny Opera House, in addition to various small local clubs and restaurants in New Orleans and the Southeast.
