10 Trees. 10 Causes. One greener holiday.

The Plant & Tree Museum invite 10 local environmental and community nonprofits to adopt a Christmas/holiday tree for the holiday season.

​

​Each organization will decorate its tree using natural, reused, compostable, upcycled, or wildlife-friendly materials—no disposable plastic décor. Each tree becomes a little storytelling and fundraising station for that nonprofit, with a sign explaining its mission and a QR code for direct donations.

​

We kick it all off with a festive Give the Landfills a Holiday Celebration: tree lighting, music, local food and drink, an eco-holiday vendor market, kids’ activities, and all 10 organizations there to meet the community on:

 Saturday, November 28th (Small Business Saturday)

12-6.00pm

**The trees will light up at 5.30pm with a toast to the non-profits and a festive lighting.

​

Then the trees will stay up through the holidays, creating a Holiday Tree Walk at The Plant. Visitors can stroll the trees, discover local organizations, vote for favorites, and—most importantly—give directly to the nonprofits as part of their year-end giving.

​

At the end, the trees are planted, chipped/mulched, composted, or otherwise returned to the earth. Nothing goes to the landfill.

 

Top 10 applicants will be chosen by mission, creativity and environmental impact.
