This time of year our eradication efforts are in full swing. We have three weed wrenches and a backhoe deployed in Moncure. And a weed wrench and a skidsteer popping privet at the Plant.
This year Amy Allen from Rewild Within will be leading nature walks. Reserve your spot before they are gone--limit 20 people per tour.
A bunch of non-profits will be tabling. Trees for the Triangle will be here, giving away free trees and doing a planting demonstration. The American Chestnut Foundation is sending folks from Asheville. The Haw River Assembly will be here. So will the Grand Trees of Chatham. I'll bet they will have their 2026 calendars for sale.
Fair Game Beverage will be doing a small batch release of their Wild Foraged Black Walnut Whiskey. That's finally been approved for sale by Uncle Sam--only took two years!
Join us for the celebration. There will be live music by Daniel De Lorenzo Trio. I'm guessing it won't just be the burn barrels. The whole Plant will be lit...

Oh, that party sounds like such a meaningful way to celebrate the land. We did something similar for a friend's birthday last year, and I was so glad I found gemmy https://gemmy.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html for party things like their sturdy light-up decorations—they added a fun glow around the fire pit without feeling out of place in the woods. Little touches like that made everyone smile and really fit the night. Hope yours turns out just as lovely.
In Slither io, I stayed inside a quiet lane between two busy zones. A panicked escape from one fight slammed directly into me.
