Wind Song

The other day I noticed a new sculpture in town. Right across from the Courthouse, in front of Al's new Cactus Cowgirl Plant Shop. I pulled in to appreciate it.
It was cool. Rock and steel. But it wasn't right.

A friend told me, "It looks like a bad haircut."
The Town of Pittsboro bought the piece at Come Out and Play last year. That's Debbie Meyer's sculpture show that has become an institution in this town.
She's been running it for decades, and she attracts artists, and audiences from near and far. She takes no commission, and she converts her already magical homesite into an amazing sculpture garden.
Good on the Town of Pittsboro for acquiring a piece from that show.
This piece is entitled, "Wind Song," and it was created by Phil Hathcock, a sculptor in Cary.
It's a beautiful piece, but someone missed on the "install." In "bad haircut" mode it does not allow the chime to swing, which means there will be no song from Wind Song.
I decided to remedy this, and to do so I invited James Vose, Town Commissioner and stone expert to help me design a solution.

James showed up early before the appointed time.
I arrived on the dot. We looked at Wind Song, and it had been "repaired" without us.
I think James Vose might have climbed up and fixed it. But he wasn't soaked in sweat, and he didn't appear to have been climbing when I arrived.
"Bad Haircut" had been transformed into "Wind Song." without us.
Thank you, to whoever effected this repair...
