"Ebee" was created as a memorial piece to my ebee/grandmother who was our family matriarch, our family's keeper of culture and tradition, and a talented and generous sewist among many other roles. I am an intergenerational sewist who only delved into sewing as art practice after ebee's passing. Since then, I've found great significance and healing in creating textile work that references our Sakha culture and commemorates the time my grandmother and I shared in this realm. This piece is hand quilted with some khryskhal/protection symbols and the blue references our sacred Bülüü ebee/Grandmother river.
