Nature's embrace by Mae Sharpless

Around 30 Inches tall and perhaps 18 inches across, the final ceramic sculptures is yet to be fired Around 20 pounds White reclaim ceramic clay, colored slips, and clear glaze.

Nature's embrace is a bird bath inspired by coral reefs, fungi, and mycelium. The aesthetics of the sculpture cater to its function. The wide shallow dish on the top officer birds a place to refresh their feathers and deer a drink on long hot summer days. The coral inspired shapes capture rain water and are great for bees and other small creatures to get a drink. 
 
The level of detail in the sculpture is meticulous and I encourage the viewers to get up close and personal by inviting them to move around small sea creatures in ways that feel right to them. (I understand that this is an outdoor sculpture show and that these small pieces may be lost or accidentally taken home. I am completely okay with this happening.)
 
The bird bath is currently in 2 pieces while the top dries out. One photo shows the bowl on top and another shows the bowl turned upside down sculpted and painted in green, blue, and yellow.
