BIG TOTEM

"I have made many different totems.  I thought that the impact a of a larger piece would be so much more of a statement. I began using only tiles and subsequently started incorporating mirrors, cup handles, glass, crystal, marbles and stained glass.  I’m always surprised and happy with the outcome.  Who knew breaking things would be so much fun."

"For 30 years, I designed and manufactured my own line of clothing. That

background of working with color palettes spurred my interest creating in

colorful mosaic sculptures. The challenge of repurposing pieces of china,

tiles, glass, mirrors and other objects to create art is like working on a

puzzle. I am surprised and inspired by the outcomes.

Totems add color and interest in a garden or in a planter for a porch. I like

working on totems because the canvas is large.

Not everyone can use tall totems, so I started making smaller pieces to use

as a canister/vase and trivet trays. These pieces add color and personality

for indoor décor.

I haunt the hallways of Habitat for Humanity and Trosa looking for pieces.

Fortunately, people who know I enjoy treasures bring me their broken

china, plates and crystal. I am happy I am able to not only recycle glass,

tile, ceramics and many other items, but I get to recycle memories too.

Either indoors or in the garden these pieces add color and beauty to your

environment.

Who knew breaking things would be so much fun"
